As a comprehensive industry service platform in the Asia-Pacific region that spans the entire medical device value chain—integrating product technology, service innovation, business cooperation, education and training, and academic exchange—the CMEF Medical Equipment Fair successfully concluded with the 78th China International Medical Equipment (Autumn) Expo and the 25th China International Medical Device Design and Manufacturing Technology (Autumn) Exhibition, held from October 29 to November 1, 2017, at the Kunming Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center.
This year’s CMEF aligns closely with national strategic priorities, adopting the theme “New Era, Co‑Creating a Healthy China.” It places a deep focus on advancing China’s health‑care agenda in the era of healthcare transformation, systematically examining key issues highlighted in the 19th CPC National Congress report—such as tiered diagnosis and treatment, artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and primary‑care services. Leveraging Yunnan’s unique geographical advantages—its role as a gateway to Southeast Asia under the Belt and Road Initiative and its position straddling two oceans—the fair also capitalizes on Kunming’s identity as “China’s Health City,” drawing medical professionals from around the globe to exhibit and attend, and jointly ushering in a new era for the greater health industry within the framework of the Healthy China strategy.

At the exhibition venue, spanning up to 130,000 square meters, more than 3,000 renowned domestic and international medical device companies returned with over a thousand cutting-edge new products. Exhibitors showcased the latest global trends in the medical device sector, highlighting前沿 technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, medical robotics, the Internet of Things, big data, 3D printing, wearable devices, and gene sequencing.

The IVD exhibition area was graced by a star-studded lineup, with Dier Biotech—China’s benchmark company in the field of clinical microbiological diagnostics—drawing particular attention. The company showcased an array of automated infectious‑disease diagnostic instruments and accompanying reagents, including the fully automated blood culture system DL‑Bt240, the fully automated bacterial identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing system DL‑96A, the bacterial assay system DL‑96Ⅱ, the fully automated staining machine DL‑DYE, and the Group B Streptococcus culture and analysis system DL‑GBS96, attracting numerous medical professionals from healthcare institutions as well as distributors and agents for visits and discussions.

In response to the national “Healthy China 2030” initiative and in accordance with the requirements of the National Action Plan to Contain Bacterial Resistance (2016–2020) and the General Office of the National Health and Family Planning Commission’s Notice on Further Strengthening Clinical Management of Antimicrobial Use to Curb Bacterial Resistance, Dier Biotechnology has developed the DL‑96A automated bacterial identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing system. This system provides comprehensive coverage of clinically relevant pathogens, integrating automated incubation, automated detection, expert alerts, and automatic report generation. It delivers susceptibility test results to clinicians within a short timeframe, supporting rational drug use and helping to reduce the emergence of resistant strains.

With shifts in demographic patterns and adjustments to national policies, the number of older mothers and newborns is steadily increasing, making maternal and child health a growing focus of public attention. This forum has brought together more than 50 leading hospital directors from across the country to engage in an in-depth discussion on the development of China’s maternal and child health sector, as well as the opportunities and challenges it faces. At the same time, the event aims to foster exchanges in medical equipment management and technology among maternal and child health institutions, and between these institutions and medical device companies. In support of maternal and child health, Dier Bio showcased its DL‑GBS series of Group B Streptococcus culture and analysis systems, which employ liquid‑based detection and automated testing to address the high‑throughput, high‑accuracy screening needs for Group B Streptococcus during prenatal care, garnering significant attention from experts and clinicians.

In recent years, Dier Biotech has experienced rapid international market expansion, with medical institutions in more than 40 countries and regions now using its products. The high quality of its offerings has drawn frequent visits from international guests, who have eagerly sought detailed information about domestically produced products.
